2021 Ford Edge Redesign
We need to know in the medium size two-row crossover segment that is growing, the old Ford Edge remains a sharp competitor, with a quiet cabin and many standard features. This is the best five-seat offer in the Ford SUV lineup, occupying real estate between the new Escape and the new Explorer.
The interior looks rather long in the teeth, but the seats are comfortable and the cabin is quiet, with enough space to comfortably accommodate four adults. Two powertrain flavors satisfy different tastes: 250 fuel-efficient horsepower, four-cylinder, or fresh twin-turbo Edge ST V-6 and 335 class ponies for more details can be seen in 2021 Ford Edge Redesign
The Ford Co-Pilot 360 Ford driver-assistant feature series including blind-spot monitoring, lane maintenance assistance, and automatic emergency braking is standard at all trim levels. The exterior design of the Edge makes it difficult to distinguish whether it is coming or going, but developments through the trim level emphasize the edge’s attractiveness.
After a mild refresher last year, the 2021 Ford Edge remains unchanged.
The new Elite package dresses up the Titanium interior with Brunello door inserts and brick red seams. All trim levels are offered two-zone climate control, 8.0-inch Sync 3 touch screen, 10-way adjustable driver’s seat, and reverse sensing system. New color palettes are Atlas Blue, Dark Persian Green, Desert Gold, Iconic Silver, Rapid Red, and Star White.
2021 Ford Edge Interior
The interior of this spacious vehicle for four adults, the Edge cabin is a comfortable place to travel or travel. Materials in all cabs are well-chosen, but panel mounting and finishing can be better; we saw a few pieces of dashboard out of tune in our test vehicle. Otherwise, the interior design is simple and unpretentious, with plenty of space for people and cargo.
If placing trash in your trunk is important to you, a two-row crossover segment is a great enabler. With the rear seats folded, Edge holds 29 of our luggage. The competitors are all well-suited in the cargo space, but Edge’s wise storage cube and slightly wider cabin might seal the deal.
Technophiles must plan to update their Edge to include the Sync 3 infotainment system because a small system’s basic screen and one USB port will not satisfy.
Stepping into SEL adds even more connectivity because it includes an 8.0-inch touch screen, Sync 3 software, and AppLink, which connects applications on your smartphone with similar applications in the Sync software to provide access to entertainment while on the go.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto also enter into the mix with this package and add another layer of connectivity. Wi-Fi hotspots are standard across all lines — new features for 2019 and can also be seen in more detail on 2021 Ford Edge Redesign
2021 Ford Edge Engine
The engine in this segment is very different from 2021 F150 Raptor based on a four-cylinder turbocharged base producing 250 horsepower and, despite experiencing regular acceleration, must provide adequate power for most customers.
If you are looking for an SUV that can match the Volkswagen Golf GTI from zero to 60 mph — and several other zippy cars too — check the box for the Edge ST, which gets a 335-hp twin-turbocharged 2.7 liters V-6 and all standard wheel drive.
These feet are not as easy as the athletic feet of the Mazda CX-9 — our yardstick for crossover handling — but Edge is pleasant enough to drive and provides convincing stability around corners; the wheel is well weighted, if not overly communicative, and the rider is comfortable on imperfect road surfaces.
The four-cylinder model is rated by EPA up to 29 mpg highway and even the sporty ST model managed to get a highway rating of 26 mpg. We haven’t tested a four-cylinder with a new eight-speed automatic, but on our 200-mile fuel-efficient highway the ST manages 25 mpg, only 1 mpg short of its promise.
Price
2021 Ford Edge Exterior
For the price of 2021, the Ford Edge is not the same as 2021 Ford F150 equipped with a tempting 335-hp twin-turbo V-6 engine from Ford Edge; However, this is an extreme approach to affordable family transportation.
And although the visual cues from the SEL and Titanium trim are interesting, we will be satisfied with the basic SE with the now-standard 8.0-inch screen, power-adjustable driver’s seat, and two-zone climate control. With all the extra money we saved, we would choose the all-wheel-drive option, which is an additional fee of $ 1995.
SE: $ 32,195
SEL: $ 35,450
Titanium: $ 39,195
ST: $ 44,360
